While the rest of the country waited with baited breath to see if the Pats would make it to theSuper Bowlfor the 11th time,Tony Romocalmly predicted everything the Boston team was doing to get there.
The retired quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, 38, is now a game analyst for CBS, and he shocked the internet when, multiple times, he explained how the Patriots would respond to the defensive formations of their opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs.
For example, twice when the Patriots were on third downs, Romo knew they’d go for conversions to Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski respectively,according to videos from The Big Lead.
But one of his best calls came,Fox News reports, when it was late in the fourth quarter. The Pats were on 4th and 1, and the Chiefs were ahead 21-17. After New England quarterbackTom Bradycalled an audible, Romo said that he would call for a stretch run off the right side — which Brady did.
All this prompted fans and experts alike to praise Romo’s “wizardry.”
“You thoughtTom Bradywas great tonight? Here’s some snippets of Tony Romo’s late-game forecasting wizardry,” wrote one sports journalist.
“That game made me sad. Tony Romo on the other hand did not. Absolutely brilliant,” added another.
Smith wasn’t the only big name to get in on the fun, though. MLB star Bryce Harper, who’s not currently committed to a particular team, joked on Twitter, “Confirmed: Just called Tony Romo to see where I’m going to play next year.#YoureAWizardTony.”

On Sunday night, the Patriots beat the Chiefs in overtime 37-31. They will head to Atlanta tocompete against the Los Angeles Ramsin the 2019 Super Bowl. It will be broadcast on CBS, Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m. local time.
