Genius has filed a lawsuit against Google alleging that the tech giant imitate words from its song - annotating platform .
In thesuit , which first report byWall Street Journal , Genius claims that the lyric licensing party LyricFind draw words from Genius ’ Page , and that Google used those language in its lookup result show .
As the causa explains , Genius believes it catch Google and LyricFind by educate a unique watermark after it grew shady that Google was steal the digital media fellowship ’s content . In an attempt to bust Google , Genius used alternating types of apostrophe — varying between curly and straight — in a chronological sequence that spelled out “ red handed ” in Morse code .
