Edge of Tomorrow is one of those movies where if you have n’t get word it , someone who has will lean off at least a dozen reasons why you should . fan of the scifi thriller have been clamour for a continuation since 2014 , along with headliner Tom Cruise and theatre director Doug Liman . While things are still up in the aviation , the movie ’s definitely move forward , with an official deed of conveyance and confirmed return of co - star Emily Blunt .
In an audience withCollider , Liman reassert that the new movie will be called Live Die repetition and Repeat , a nod to the tagline and belated deed that was given to the film for digital and menage release , Live Die Repeat : Edge of Tomorrow . Blunt is on board to reprise her role as Rita Vrataski , along with Cruise as star Bill Cage . Liman previously said the movie will be a sequel that ’s actually a prequel , playing on the flick ’s use of time to subvert people ’s expectations of what a sequel should be like .
“ We have an amazing narrative ! It ’s incredible ! Way better than the first film , and I plain loved the first movie . It will be visit hot Die Repeat and repetition . Tom [ Cruise ] is worked up about it , and Emily Blunt is excited about it . The big question is just when we ’ll do it . But it ’s not an if , it ’s a when , ” Liman said .
mightily now , all the major players are demand in other projects ( include Liman , who ’s helming DC ’s Justice League Dark ) so it looks like it would be at least a couple of years before this movie could get off the ground . The hoopla has been real , but the continuation definitely feel like it ’s go in circles sometimes , waiting for things to finally get off the ground . But if there ’s anything Edge of Tomorrow lover are good at , it ’s surviving time loops .
