originally this calendar month , a team of divers swim off the coast of Turkey discovered something unexpected : a 4 - meter wide gelatinous mass of what turned out to be one of the biggest mass of squid nut ever discovered .
The plunger were n’t sure what they had name , but once the TV was post online , they got a clue from Dr. Michael Vecchione of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History , who believe that the mass was squid eggs .

Dr. Vecchione unspoiled surmise ? A prominent red flight calamari namedOmmastrephes bartramii . These fauna can grow to around 1.5 meter ( ~5 feet ) in length . As their name suggests , scarlet fly calamari can wing , or rather glide , by gush out of the water and flatting their tentacle and fins to make “ wings ” . They ’ve also get down arms packed with sucker complete with razor - sharp teeth .
Discovered near Fethiye , a Mediterranean town on the coast of Turkey , scientist have hypothesize that like masses have contained anywhere from 600,000 to 2,000,000 squid egg , and rent just a twosome of daytime to hatch , which would make the mickle a curtly - live on target for predatory animal .
