Dollhouse ’s second time of year renewal storm many in the video industry , but did it also change the agency that executives view success for science fiction TV ? Virtuality conscientious objector - creator Michael Taylor think so – and hopes that his show will profit .
Talking at Virtuality ’s lowkey press launching on Wednesday , Taylor admitted that Fox has never actually explained what it would take to plow the airplane pilot into a series :
There ’s never been discussion of a threshold [ of success ] . I do n’t get it on if they know what the brink is . The threshold for reincarnate Joss ’ show [ Dollhouse ] was finally pretty low and I think was out of respect for what he showed he can do and respect for sci - fi fan , let ’s face it . If we could do that well ? If we could do better ? If we could do as well as ‘ Battlestar ’ did , with a huge pursual behind it by its fourth time of year ? That would be lovely . There are , however , no guarantees .
